About Us

The internet so far has not been good enough, and we want to change that. You want to know what’s going on in the world, but everyone trying to tell you is too obnoxious. You want to find fun stuff when you’re bored, but nobody will just give it to you without making you jump through hoops. You want to hear what people think about things, but everyone with an opinion to share also has an agenda, an oversized ego, or a freakish obsession with something nobody could possibly care that much about. We understand this, and we’re here to help.

In Viking-land, the council of elders in a town was called the Thyng, and every year all the Thyngs in the nation would gather together to discuss the important issues of the day at one big meeting called the Allthyng. Welcome to the 21st century Allthyng.

Allthyngs.com is a joint blog by 12 funny, likable, interesting, smart people, each with different tastes and interests. We go around the web and the world finding awesome things so that we can give you everything you want to see and only what you want to see in one consolidated place. Come to Allthyngs when you want to read the news without getting bored or scared. Come to Allthyngs when you have nothing to do, or when you have stuff to do but you’d rather procrastinate. Come to Allthyngs when you want to know what other people thought about that big thing that just happened in the world. Allthyngs.com is all the good stuff, only the good stuff, done in a way you’ll actually enjoy. Welcome to the internet- the way it should’ve been all along.

We’re still a very young site, and we’re all pretty new at this whole website business, so things are gonna be changing around a lot for a little while and some stuff might not work as well as it should quite yet. If you come across something that’s broken, tell alec@allthyngs.com about it.

Check out our mission statement to see more of what we’re about. Or just browse the site for a while and you’ll probably get it, it’s not too complicated.

You can comment on our site using your facebook, twitter, yahoo, openid, or disqus account. Just click the right button above the comments box and log in with whichever account you want. No setting up a new account and no remembering a new password. Isn’t that awesome?

You can browse the site either by editor (by clicking any of their names on that bar along the top of the site) or by category by clicking any of the links on the sidebar on the right of the page. We also rank everything we post as either “goodness,” “greatness,” or “great balls of fire,” so you can click on any of those categories on the right sidebar to see all the best posts, all the really good posts, or just all the posts. Also, we have some pretty cool tags that can help you find what you want too (My favorite is the “blaze” tag). Under each post on the right hand side is a list of words, and if you click any of them it brings up all the posts those words also relate to. If you see something there that looks interesting, click it and see what else we have to say.
