Erykah Badu: Jump in the Air featuring Lil Wayne

Erykah Badu: Jump in the Air featuring Lil Wayne

Damn Lil’ Wayne is everywhere nowadays. He’s even infiltrated the most eccentric genre of soulful/unique/I don’t care what anyone thinks of me, I’m gonna do my own thing music, which really only comprises two artists: Erykah Badu & Andre 3000. Nevertheless, this song is fire… and the video is very weird, yet oddly intriguing. A must have for any fulfilling music collection.

Unfortunately, you can only watch the video on Kanye’s website, so check it out over there.

Everywhere, like, such as…

I know I have been on an unannounced hiatus recently, so I thought it most appropriate and befitting to offer my fellow collegians a comforting solace in this turbulent period that is mid-term season. Despite all your potential follies and academic misfortune, know that you will always be smarter than at least one person in the world…

Keyword for this video: Brilliant.

New Kanye & Mr. Hudson

While browsing the Louis Vuitton Don’s blog, I ran across another track by Mr. Hudson feat. Mr. West. Like the “Supernova,” this song has more of a pop sound, though it is much more pronounced with the guitar solo in the introduction and the rock feel throughout. Of course, Kanye kills his verse, which when combined with Mr. Hudson’s chorus, provides for a pretty good track. I personally am looking forward to more collaborative work between these two, it’s definitely a unique and refreshing sound! Mr. Hudson’s second album, Straight No Chaser, will be out in the US soon, but for now you can listen to Anyone But Him on YouTube, embedded after the jump (hit “read more”).

The Giving Seed

The Giving Seed

With the advent of the internet, shopping has become, as staples might say, “as easy as pressing a button”…though in this case quite literally. First, there are obvious benefits of not having to expend gas, time, calories, and other precious resources traveling to and from the store, searching blindly for the item you desire to purchase, and dealing with the one disgruntled salesperson who woke up at 6:00 a.m. that day on a mission to ruin any and every semblance of joy that you might have!! (personal experience…) But there are other advantages too. The expansive nature of the World Wide Web makes it much easier to find exactly what you want, and with the facilitatory function of such sites as eBay and Craig’s List, it is often easy to find these items, new or used, at a much more discounted price. And as if these reasons alone were not enough, now when you shop on the web, you can also make an indirect donation to the charity of your choice!! Imagine that, indulging your material desire and saving the world at the same time! Through partnership with such web retailers as Amazon, Walmart, and Priceline.com, Givingseed.com has made it possible for you to donate a portion of the proceeds generated by your online purchase to the charity organization of your choice. Furthermore, the Google search bar on the website provides another fundraising opportunity as the total funds generated through searches from Givingseed.com will be distributed among the charities. This is truly an innovative and convenient way to contribute to the betterment of world, so next time you venture out into the virtual megastore that is the internet, be sure to first visit Givingseed.com.

After Receiving the Kick from the Knicks, Stephon Marbury decides to try his luck in China

After Receiving the Kick from the Knicks, Stephon Marbury decides to try his luck in China

The Taiyuan Shanxi Zhongyu Professional Basketball Club in China is “one of the worst teams in the league.” Come on Stephon, for real? Playing for what is arguably the worst team in the NBA is bad enough, but to have that team fire you, travel to the other side of the world, and then play for the worst team there too!? That’s just down right pititful… but hey, who am I to judge? As outrageous as this may sound, it is unfortunately true for Mr. Marbury, though the fans in China seem quite enthusiastic about their new “talent.” Stephon Marbury, once a premier point guard in the National Basketball Association and League Playoff contender, ruined his reputation in America with numerous confrontations involving coaches and teammates. Let’s hope that his lack of knowledge “about China other than what [he's] seen on TV” doesn’t lead to too many confrontations with his new team, because he can’t really afford to take many more career changing L’s.

Dying and in dire need of medical treatment??…There’s an App for that.

Dying and in dire need of medical treatment??…There’s an App for that.

The resourcefulness of Apple’s iPhone applications has become a common ploy for amusement in today’s culture, so much so that is on the verge of ridicule. So when I first read the title “Trapped father survives with help of phone app,” my initial instinct was to laugh at what I thought was merely another mockery of the ever so resourceful app. After reading the article, however, I am now convinced that there is actually an App for everything in life. This man, bleeding profusely and clinging anxiously to life while trapped under the rubble created by an aftershock in Haiti, managed to treat his wounds and keep himself alive with the sole assistance of his cell phone. From keeping people in contact to keeping people alive…what will technology do next??

Bubble Bazinga

Bubble Bazinga

Let me begin by first apologizing to all PC users who do not have access to what is perhaps one of the most resourceful and entertaining, though at times academically detrimental, inventions ever: the Widget. Apple’s Dashboard provides its users with a variety of services, not the least of which is an enticing escape from the monotony of daily life. One recent widget that was bestowed upon me by a good friend is Bubble Bazinga. When I say that I have spent hours playing this game I am not employing hyperbole…it is madly addicting. If you are looking for a life enhancing, mind challenging, and immensely enjoyable game, this widget is most certainly NOT for you. If you are, however, searching for a simple-minded pastime that will devour your scarce and otherwise meaningful time, then I got what you need! With all sincerity though, I encourage you to try it out…you will not be disappointed!

Mr Hudson – Supernova ft. Kanye West

Throw Kanye on a track and its automatically fire. I like this song in particular because it combines the Louis Vuitton Don’s distinctive hip-hop style with a more trendy techno/pop sound that is bold and unique. Mr. Hudson, an artist on West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, is also featured on Kanye’s Paranoid and Jay-Z’s Forever Young.

Kevin Hart – I don’t Like Ostriches

Kevin Hart is an underrated star. Not too many people include him among the premier comedians of the day, but he truly is a funny guy. I first saw him in that Low-Budget classic “Soul Plane” and was quite impressed with his awkward, yet strikingly amusing humor. He showcases his talents here in this excerpt from his “I’m a Grown Little Man” show, as he discusses his negative experience with an ostrich. This one keeps me laughing.

Quarterback Spikes A Ball, Hits Himself in the Nuts

Damn, this guy is a complete idiot. There are, however, a number of lessons to be learned from this fool’s mishap. First is the validity of Murphy’s Law: “Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” This guy’s day was just starting to look up. Flawless fake to the half-back, 20 yard sprint to the end zone unscathed, what else could a Quarterback ask for? [...]
